What is Fat-dissolving?

Fat dissolving injections are incredible compounds that work to break down the membranes of the fat cells beneath the skin that are typically resistant to exercise. Fat dissolving injections work by disrupting fat cells making them unstable. These cells then begin to break down and flush out through the body via the lymphatic system. This treatment can be permanent as part of a healthy lifestyle. Commonly used to treat submental fat (double chin) or fat around the jawline and jowls, fat dissolving injections can give dramatic results to help recontour the face.

After the treatment.

Fat dissolving injections work by causing an inflammatory reaction, and therefore you may experience some swelling for up to 5 days post treatment. This is usually mild, and can be controlled using cool pads. Due to how the treatment works, you should not manage any side effects with anti inflammatory medicines as this will be counter intuitive to the treatment.

Length of time for results

You can expect it to take approx 2-3 weeks before you start to see a reduction in fatty deposits around the chin and jawline, giving a slimmer and less wobbly appearance to the face, helping to eliminate double chins. For larger areas, you will start to notice the effects after 2-3 weeks, but should allow up to 8 weeks for the final result to be apparent.

How many treatmentsdo I need?

Typically 1-3 treatments will be required to achieve your desired result, but this will be discussed in your pre-treatment consultation along with your expectations. This treatment has a high patient satisfaction rate. We will only treat patients who are within 1 stone of their ideal body weight and around 3cm of pinchable fat, as this treatment is not intended as a weight loss solution.

Aftercare

• After treatment there may be slight redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness or itching in the treated area. This is a normal result of the product/injection and can last 2-4 weeks.

• Massage the treated area 3 times a day.

• Avoid ice packs of heat.

• Avoid strenuous exercises for at least 48 hours.

• Maintain a healthy diet.

• Numbness and reduced sensation in the treated often occurs and can persist for several weeks/months after the treatment. This always resolves spontaneously with time.

• Do not wash the area or take a hot shower for 8 hours after the treatment.

• Do not expose the treated area to intense heat eg sunbed, swimming, sauna, sunbathing or extreme coldness. A sauna before treatment can help to mobilize the fat. If it's unavoidable to go into the sun, wear SPF 50 at all times.

• Avoid heavy exercise for 48 hours after treatment, as sweating will cause you to excrete the solution from the skin, which will reduce the treatment effectiveness.

• Avoid alcohol for 48 hours to facilitate the liver in the handling of the fat.

• Stay well hydrated by drinking 2 liters of water a day for the next week.
